Day 3: The Burden of the Cross

Day 3: The Burden of the Cross
  • Scripture: Matthew 27:32, Galatians 6:2
  • Devotional:
Simon of Cyrene was compelled to carry Jesus' cross. While this was a physical act, it serves as a powerful symbol for us. Jesus, weakened by the scourging, needed help. In a similar way, we are called to bear one another's burdens.
Simon's story also hints at the transformative power of encountering Christ. Though initially forced into service, it's speculated that Simon later became a believer, along with his sons. This reminds us that even seemingly insignificant encounters with Christ can have eternal consequences. Let us be open to how God might use us, even in unexpected ways, to point others to Him.
    • Application: Consider someone you know who is going through a difficult time. Reach out to them this week, offering practical help, a listening ear, or prayer support. Show them the love of Christ through your actions.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to be like Simon, willing to bear the burdens of others. Give us compassionate hearts and a willingness to serve, even when it's inconvenient. May our lives be a reflection of Your love and grace to those around us. Amen.
